How Do Consultations Work?
Your first visit with Dr. Kerner will normally be a 45 minute to one hour consultation.
Your medical history will be reviewed, and we will focus on your primary concerns and appropriate surgical procedures to treat these. The area of concern (i.e. face, breast, abdomen, etc.) will be examined, and Dr. Kerner will go over the basics of the procedure. If an insurance predetermination letter is needed, a more in-depth examination will be done, and photographs will be taken. You will be provided with a detailed consultation sheet about the procedure, as well as an estimate and information about pre-op and post-op instructions. Dr. Kerner’s goal is for every patient to have a clear understanding of available surgical choices and alternatives and what may be expected postoperatively.
Generally Dr. Kerner sees patients in consultation on Tuesdays and Wednesdays as she is in the operating room on Mondays, some Thursdays, and Fridays. However, occasionally there may be an opening in the schedule on a surgery day, depending on her surgery load.
For initial consultations for surgery, Dr. Kerner charges $125.00. Normally these consultations are between 45 and 60 minutes and are face-to-face time with Dr. Kerner and her nursing staff. Dr. Kerner does not offer free consultations as she feels it is reasonable to be compensated for her time and expertise.
If you proceed with a cosmetic surgery on a cash basis within six (6) months of the consultation and the surgeon’s fee is greater than $1,800.00, this initial consultation fee will be deducted from the total surgeons fee. In addition, the second discussion/preoperative visit time (usually another 45 to 90 minute visit) will not be charged to you.
If your surgery is processed through insurance, the initial and second consultation fees will be submitted to your insurance company, and any copays for which you are responsible will not be deducted from the surgeon’s fee. Dr. Kerner is bound by the terms of the insurance
contracts to collect any and all deductibles, copays, and coinsurance.
Consultations fees for in-office procedures including (but not limited to): fillers, Botox®, CoolSculpting®, skin checks, lesion removals, scar revisions, earlobe repair, etc. are not deducted from the eventual fees for these services.
If you have had prior cosmetic surgery in the operating room with Dr. Kerner, normally a 15% reduction of the surgeon’s fee is offered as our thanks for your confidence in and return to Dr. Kerner. However, this discount is only given at Dr. Kerner’s discretion.

She made me feel relaxed. When I was referred to her my OBGYN, my OBGYN’s exact words were “if I could put my life in her hands, so can you. You have nothing to worry about”. That says it all.
Dr. Kerner knows her stuff!! She is a thorough surgeon, her outcome are superb! Her incisions are precise, clean, and well approximated. I cannot say enough. I’ll got her over and over again. At my 6 months follow up, she looked at a tiny surgical scar that wasn’t even noticeable and said she would revised it! That scar was alright by me! She revised it at no cost!! That’s perfection at its entirety! You won’t regret ever going to her!
Thank you Dr. Kerner for helping me get my confidence back!!
